Buford complained that his load was getting too heavy.

Festus told him to quit complaining ("kwiturbitchin!")

If Buford gave Festus one six-pack, then Festus would have double what Buford had left.

If Festus gave Buford one six-pack, then they'd have an equal amount.

How much are each carrying (before any trades)?

Buford and Festus are fighting the high price of gas by planting beans.

They paid cousin Skeeter $30 to plant 10 rows of bean plants with 3 plants in each row.

10 rows with 3 plants each is 30 plants in total, right?

How wrong you are, my gassy friend.

Cousin Skeeter planted only 9 bean plants but he arranged them to make 10 rows with 3 plants in each row.

Buford lives way out in the woods and has only a 20 oz bottle of Gatorade and a natural spring of water to drink.

To conserve his Gatorade he decides that on the first day he will drink one oz from the bottle and the refill the bottle back up with water. On the 2nd day he will drink 2oz and refill the bottle. On the 3rd day he will drink 3oz and so on...

By the time all the Gatorade is gone, how much water has Buford drunk?

Buford has drunk 190oz of water.

It is given that Buford has 20oz bottle of Gatorade. Also, he will drink 1oz on the first day and refill the bottle with water, will drink 2oz on the second day and refill the bottle, will drink 3oz on the third day and refill the bottle, and so on till 20th day. Thus at the end of 20 days, he must have drunk (1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + ..... +18 + 19 + 20) = 210oz of liquid.

Out of that 210oz, 20oz is the Gatorade which he had initially. Hence, he must have drunk 190oz of water.

(And taken one heck of a whiz!)

Buford's mother, Penny, was a money-hungry hussy. She was always proud of sharing her name with the one-cent coin. When she named her three children, she decided to share the wealth.

Her first child was born right here in the good old USA, so she named him "Dollar Bill."

Her second child was born in Bonn, Germany, so she named him Deutschmark. (They call him Mark).

Finally, her third son was born in Paris, France. Can you guess what she named him?
